Netgear extenders are known to increase the range of the existing network. Your home or
office has some dead spots where the range of your wireless network can’t be
reached. So to conquer this situation, Netgear manufactured the extenders.
There are various models of the extender available in the market today.
The
setup of the extender is very easy. Most of the extenders have setup CD with
them. You just need to run the installation CD and follow the on-screen
instructions to complete the setup process.
Two
button setup
The
easiest method to setup the extender is the WPS method. The condition is your
router and extender both must have the WPS button. Press the WPS button of the
extender and the router simultaneously, the connection established between the
router and the extender within few seconds.
What
matters for the maximum extender range?
1. To have the maximum
range expansion, make sure that the frequency should be same for both the Wi-Fi
and the extender. It means if your extender is working on 2.4 GHz band then the
Wi-Fi is also set to 2.4 GHz and same is for 5 GHz band.
2. The position of the
extender matters. To find the best place for the extender, try changing the
position and check the signal strength indicator. The place where it turns
solid, that is the best position to place your router.
To
change the settings of the extender, log in to the extender.
