If you have purchased a
Netgear WN2000 extender and now you are worried how to set it up. Then, do not worry;
we are providing step by step procedure. Before explaining the procedure, let
us discuss some things about Netgear extenders. Netgear extenders are used to
extend the range of an existing router’s network. The main router installed at
your home is not capable of covering the whole area. This is the reason,
extenders are required.
The extenders are
coming with lot more features. An extender can work like a router or repeater. There
are reset hole on the extender to set it to the factory default settings. Now,
we will discuss the setup of the WN2000 extender. We can set it up through mywifiext.net or through the WPS
method.
We will discuss these methods one by one.

Through WPS method
1. Turn
on the extender and wait till status LED turns solid green.
2. Press
the WPS button on the extender first and wait for the light to blink.
3. Within
other two minutes, press the WPS button on the main router.
4. Check
that the Link Rate LED light is turned on. This ensures that connection is
successful.
5. Find
the network name of your extender and then make a connection to access the
internet.
6. After
setup, if you want to configure the extender then go to mywifiext.net and enter
the details. Click on submit button and do whatever you want to with the
extender settings.
The setup has been
successfully completed.

Through internet browser setup
1. Turn
on a computer system and connect to the extender through its network name. The
name of the extender has an extension of _EXT. You can see the name going to
the available wireless network devices.
2. Check
the PC to extender light. It should be lit.
3. Launch
a web browser such as Google Chrome and enter the web address mywifiext.net in the address bar of the
browser window. Hit the enter key from the keyboard.
4. Netgear
Genie window opens. It asks you for either you want to take help from the Netgear
Genie or not. Click YES and continue to proceed further.
5. Select
the network name of your extender network and enter the passphrase for the same.
6. A
window opens in which you can select the same security as your main router has
or can select a different one.
7. Enable
my wireless devices check box and click continue.
8. Click
on Finish button to finish the setup procedure.
9. If
you want to do changes then you have to log in again by opening the login
window through mywifiext.net.
